ya I'm on the third go around with this truck trying to figure out how I wanted it and I'm finally headed in the direction I think I'll finally be happy with but it's been hard tracking down some of these parts I'm using right now the hole things been put on hold till I can find the new transmission I need to get it all finalized then it'll be blown back apart for final weld up and cleanup paint and powder coating

Ya I could imagine how hard it has become to look parts on our truck especially yours....there's always a laundry list of things to do when youve taken everything apart.

That's how I feel on my projects too.. I just don't like others helping me, just to have to redo it when they mess up or do it a way I don't like..

I've been collecting a lot since I've had the Yota I've got a storage shed full of parts have enough to build two trucks but with the motor is even harder cuz it only came in the 83-84 ranger and the same in Mazda the later ones like the I think 87 diesel Rangers and mazdas had a Mitsubishi 2.3l diesel so parts are a rare find for them just glad I picked up a good running one that's strong

Hell I've been doing it a couple years now and I'm just now getting to the point of laying welds like that hardest part is consistency when you only put the welder to use every two weeks or so

Do you have any advice for me to get a weld looking as good as that one? I bought a flex core welder from harbor freight and it seems to do the job but can'take get good weld like yours...

That should be the .30 wire swap to the .35 wire and bevel your joints I also use to use the nozzle spray it'll improve but very unlikely that you'll be able to get them like the dime pattern with flux being the wire has the gas in it I finally swapped to a better welder and that's when my welds improved now don't get me wrong ppl bash all the time about using a flux to build a truck but that's what I used the first time on my build and I drove on it for like almost two years without issues until I was able to improve my tool selection went from the flux to a arc tig setup then I finally bought my snap on mig setup and that's about all I use now and on some stuff I use my tig setup
