Does any know what wire goes from the regulator to the charge light? According to my wiring diagrams it's the white/red, but I don't want to just go chopping and connecting wires trying to figure it out..

    Any help is appreciated! :waytogo:

I take it you don't have a voltage gauge yet. I wouldn't worry about hooking up the stock charge light. Seems to be your biggest obstacle. If just get a 2" voltage gauge an wire that up to keep an eye on electrical. They fit the square pop out next to the factory radio

It's not that it's an obstacle so much as I want to keep everything as stock as possible. The only additions I have made are a stereo and a temp gauge.

And I might as well use what it was meant for..

I gotcha. I'm a huge fan of real gauges. See the problem before it gets to a warning light point. I think I have 8 gauges in my truck right now. More to come when I get some sending units lol.

To bad it can't be have no problem so don't be worrying...

If my alt swap doesn't fix it then it has to be my battery.. I drove my truck from work to the parts store (10miles) and had my battery checked and it read good except it was at 31% charge..

My battery kinda sucks too. Hardly starts when it's really cold out. My theory is with the weak alternators the battery goes through my cycles of running low for a short term. More wear and tear on them. Plus, its not a name brand. I've had it a few years. And it's went dead a few times. When I get my next one, I want the biggest one that will fit the battery tray. Also, check how solid your tray is. Mine is starting to rot loose on one edge.

I made a new tray:D my truck came with a piece of plywood with a notch to sit on the smog pump bracket an a bungy cord to hold the battery.. my battery is just the costless special.. But it's only 6 month old, as well as the alt and regulator.. The gm 3 wire alt I ordered is a 100 amp and stocks are 55:lol:

I hate those stock 55s. My voltage drops to below 12v when I come to a stop/idle. Gets worse at night with the radio on. I plan a 140a swap down the road. I have some more stereo and lights to install but can't power them. Keep us posted bud

you should do a gm 3 wire! it allows you to still use your charge light.. There just as easy to wire up.
