So I was working on my truck today and i was replacing the passenger window control. While using it I heard the driver side POP and neither side works anymore. I checked the fuses didn't see any bad ones and replaced the door control unit. They still don't work. My electric door locks weren't working before but are now but none of the other switches are working. Help?
I went to talk to my mechanic and he got me a diagram for the window controls, but I don't know where the relay is and I don't know what fuse it is for the window controls
Not sure if this is right, but won't hurt to check: Look under the hood on the drivers side inner fender well. Should be a black box with relays and link-fuses inside. Check the link fuses *visual check because the fuse part is on top*. If those are good check the fuse panel inside the truck and pull each fuse to make sure they aren't tied into a different fuse than what you checked. Relays: with the right tools and determination you can pull the relays out of the black box under the hood. Pull the black cover off of it and if the inside part looks burnt well its bad. The schematic should let you know which one to check to make the process a little easier or you could strip the truck apart and chase wires lol.
My black box doesn't have the sticker on it so I don't know what is what but I checked every fuse on the truck they where all good. I need to check the relay. But I don't know where it is
So my dad told me where the relays were and how I can reset them so I did now I have my Windows back on my drivers side but I gotta check the switch on the passenger side and now I have door locks. Now I just need the vinyl shifted cover and a new gas gauge for my truck, then it will be set. thank you guys for the help!
relays I have the same problem with the pass window I replaced the motor but, still no pwr. Where are the relays located
i found the fuses/relay they are the oval shaped things next to the fuse block in the cab the bottom is windows the top is locks, my passenger window still doesnt work so im going to check the wires but i think the switch is shorting out on mine.
Guess I wouldn't have known about the extra relay box since mine doesn't have all the power stuff. Anyways congrats dude!
85 short wheel base pickup base model... Actually glad this truck didn't have a/c, and all the electric junk. Less crap to strip out of it.
