on these trucks it's usually an indicator that your alt is going to die soon. never hurts to check grounds and battery/alt connections too.

I'll second what burnzya just said. I had a spare alternator from my parts truck when it happened to me a few months ago. That made it all better. Maybe it is a bad connection. Uninstall and reinstall. See if that helps. But be prepared for the idea that you may need to get a new one soon.

I've had an alt die within a few weeks. Most of the ones you buy at the local parts stores are refurbished. Someone could have missed something when putting it back together. Safe bet is to pull it out and take it to a parts store to have it tested. Most if not all have a lifetime warranty.

when my alternator died, I never got a light.

when my brake fluid was low, I got the light.

But I agree, double-check the connections anyways

yeah alternators can be a bitch with that tight fitting bracket.I always take a grinder to my alternator and shave a little off those bolt spacer things and it makes it way easier to slide that bolt in.

Ya some auto part stores sell some iffy refurbished parts, but sometimes nice cause they offer a decent warranty. I just had to replace my 6 month old alternator on my 4Runner last week. Had the old Brake and Charge light pop on at about 6000 RPM's, completely toast. Plus side is it was free thanks to that warranty and took only 10mins to replace. :clapping:
