Charge/Brake light came on last night and stayed on all today..... Does anybody know what that means? Thanks! Ronnie
on these trucks it's usually an indicator that your alt is going to die soon. never hurts to check grounds and battery/alt connections too.
I'll second what burnzya just said. I had a spare alternator from my parts truck when it happened to me a few months ago. That made it all better. Maybe it is a bad connection. Uninstall and reinstall. See if that helps. But be prepared for the idea that you may need to get a new one soon.
I've had an alt die within a few weeks. Most of the ones you buy at the local parts stores are refurbished. Someone could have missed something when putting it back together. Safe bet is to pull it out and take it to a parts store to have it tested. Most if not all have a lifetime warranty.
when my alternator died, I never got a light. when my brake fluid was low, I got the light. But I agree, double-check the connections anyways
white red wire at battery, alt. ground loose/rusty alt plug wire broken just outside the connector [just had that one happen] regulator failing just start tracing powers and grounds and you find it soon
Thanks guys!! Just said F it and changed the alt (what a b#tch) and it seems to be good now!! Bad Alt it was... Thanks again!
yeah alternators can be a bitch with that tight fitting bracket.I always take a grinder to my alternator and shave a little off those bolt spacer things and it makes it way easier to slide that bolt in.
Ya some auto part stores sell some iffy refurbished parts, but sometimes nice cause they offer a decent warranty. I just had to replace my 6 month old alternator on my 4Runner last week. Had the old Brake and Charge light pop on at about 6000 RPM's, completely toast. Plus side is it was free thanks to that warranty and took only 10mins to replace.
I didnt want to start a new thread and im having a similar issue. My parking brake light stays on even after its not in use. I have to press down on the brake pedals preaty hard for them to function. I checked the fluid and its not empty. What can it be?
Idk I'm hoping that it just need to be bled or something. If not then ill have to look into the cylinder and vacuum
I have the light problem too when I turn on my headlights which are custom Morimoto projectors but I have driven with the lights on for about 30 mins and no signs of my truck wanting to turn off
