hey guys, does anybody know weather the tailhousing of a w58 will fit on a w56 transmission? I have a w58 trans I got really cheap that is missing some parts and know a guy that is selling a w56 trans but it's a 4wd Trans. I'm thinking about getting it and swapping the tailhousing with that of the w58 trans. Any help would be appreciated:/.

I used my stock w56 tailshaft on my w58. Works great, also swap the speed sensor and reverse switch. I think the 2wd and 4wd are differnt though

Okay, so if you were successful with the w56 tail housing on a w58, then it should work the other way around (w58 tailhousing on a w56 trans). And for your last statement (2wd and 4wd are different) are you talking about the parts you want me to swap out, or you are speaking on the transmissions themselves:/?

    So, if I understand u correctly - u wanna swap a 2wd W58 tail section to a 4wd W56 trans ---?

This will NOT work. The shafts are different. Amongst other little things. Not to mention there may be some 5th gear size figment issues as well.
