Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

I've had issues with my anti-diesel solenoid either losing power or ground....

I seem to b the only one I guess, since I've responded to a lot of "wont idle" threads.... and never heard back.

Just "weird" that its happened to both of the carb'd toyota trucks I've owned.. an '81 and now my '86.

    Rigged em both, lol.

I think it has to do with messed up solder joints in the "emissions control unit".

    DAMN EMISSIONS!

Mine did that once. I replaced the anti-diesel solenoid, not a problem since. You said you built your top end, did that include your carb too? Carb could be an issue if so? I'm just guessing.

There should be a green plug hanging down between the carb and your battery. It has 4 wires going to the carb. One is for your choke, two are for the solenoid and one is for your float bowl vent.

If you trace them up to the carb, you'll find it. Red and black wire for the solenoid.

I'd have to look at my manual to get the specs, but the easy way to test it is to cut a piece of insulation out of both wires and while its running, take a spare jumper wire and go + to red and then try - to black.

If it doesn't make it run any better, that's probably not your problem.....unless the solenoid/ o-ring is bad itself.

My solenoid was good in both trucks... but one truck the ground was bad and the other truck wasn't getting power....

    Causing my no idle problems.
