Hey Brian did you need to disconnect the proportion rod, it looked like you still kept it on. If you did keep it, did it tighten the braking?
it was kept in place, just bent the rod down to level the valve off.... brakes are not as touchy anymore.
you can lay frame without notching the frame...gotta make the brackets so you can put the frame under the axle...my uncles mazda is like that and he"s body dropped.
lol static on the frame means.... dragging 24/7 and having to hit speedbumps at 30mph so you don't get stuck!
only way i can see that happening is by doing big wheels... otherwise running somthin like a 15 or 16 would not create enough lift to get it high enough to clear and allow the truck to roll
Hey guys! I really have to let you all know how much the notch improved the ride quality of the truck! With the 6" drop (3" blocks by Beefed, and a 3" drop leaf springs) she was sitting pretty low. There was only about 3/4" gap between the top of the axle and the bottom of the frame (bumpstops were removed a while back!) 255/35/18's are tucking tire and sit right at the lip of the wheel... Not much axle travel. With the notch and low profile bumpstops, bumps and dips in the road that I would really have to slow down for and grab the wheel and cringe now just quietly pass. For ANYONE out there that rides this low or rides low without bumpstops, this is a mod that really needs to get done. Beefed gave me back some ride quality that I thought I had to sacrifice to sit that low and stay "static". I didn't want to bag the truck and I really want to still be able to use the bed. This notch keeps the truck at its current altitude and allows the suspension to work. This truck continues to get better with the help of some incredible people from right here on Toyota Minis. Thank you guys for the help, support, compliments, and enthusiasm to take some ideas and make them reality.
This is a under the bed c-notch for a static truck. The only way I see this happening on a bagged truck is if it has a custom rear section of frame or like these guys mentioned...REALLY big wheels. I'm glad you're happy Allan. Thanks for the feedback, I love to hear it, and spread the word.
Every time I see this truck there is something new done to it. I wonder what else could be in store. . . They keep dropping the price on that "part" I showed you Allan.
well.......... the rear does currently sit lower than the front at the moment........ Al......... what would it cost to import your truck back? we got it goin on and from the looks of it..... everyone is goin back to slammin pre-tacos now a days
That would be impossible for me to get that truck back. Best bet would be for me to start again. Been looking around. . .
Got a shop now! I have a new shop now that has low rent which will allow me to notch these sweet little Yota's while keeping the cost down. I'd love to do another and get a 2nd thread about it here on TM. I guarantee my price will beat any other hack shop, plus I doubt they'll be able to say they've notched well over 30 trucks. The truck will be in and out the same day and I promise your back will thank you! Your ride home will completely different than the ride to the shop was.
How much to notch it without cutting the bed? I live in SD so im not too far from Ocean Side. I still want to be able to put my CBR on the bed.
