so here it goes..... i live in SF, yesterday on my way home from work i was going about 30 -35 mph. little did i know construction was going on the past few days and there was a section of the street that was cut out a few inches deep. ANYHOW..... didnt see it in time and BANG there goes my F'n truck . It was a HARD it.. being as low as i am, my suspension didnt dampen it at all. SO... i pulled over to find a bent and cracked right front rim, and worst of all... (now i can make right turns without using my steering wheel) Im hoping it just got knocked out of alignment. i sent my rim out for repair already (still waiting to see if its repairable). anyway, there is peice that i noticed was bent but i have no idea what i is called. i want change that out before i try to get it aligned. i will post pics today.
heres the rim damage... (by the way none of my rims have ANY curb rash or dings accept this one now) <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/snipe2288/bentrim003.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/snipe2288/bentrim007.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
OUCH! Thats one thing i hate about Ottawa.. The roads are always bumpy and full of pot holes! Hope they can fix it for ya!
heres underneath... So far The red circled part is bent 100% i just dont know what its called also, the support bar that bolts to the a arm and to that bracket looks slightly bent also (the tabs on the plastic oil pan cover are shattered and the bent bracket is holding it that far up on the left) <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/snipe2288/ToyotaSuspension005.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
i took the bracket and rod off.. and drove in a straight line in front of my house. Still pulls hard to the right. i guess im gonna start replacing parts one by one... anyone know where i should start? New Center Link Idler Arm End Links Tie Rods Strut Rods and brackets Pitman Arm And last, DJM Control Arm, hopefully i can call them and get only one.. other wise gotta buy the whole kit again if it helps, when i saw the dip coming, i tried to steer away from it before it hit (which is why the right side if F'd up instead of both)
Sorry to see this ! I gave Seth all my stock parts, including these brackets. If you contact him ,he may just gave them to you if he isn't going to use them!! Also to note that is a problem with low profile tires( 30-& 35) rim damage on any bad road!!
im emailing a guy on craigslist about some stock front suspenson parts, and another guy about his 89 that is just a shell, no engine, trans, driveline, doors fenders or anything. but still has complete front and rear suspension for 200 bucks. i figure steal all the front suspension off of it, sell the rear end, leafs, gas tank, bed, and tailgate and easily make my 200 bucks back. + get money from a scrapper for the frame and shell? or if anyone else on here has stock stuff they wouldn't mine getting rid of
if the construction zone wasnt marked to let people know to slow down because there was a big bump ahead then you should be able to make the city (or who ever was doing the construction) pay for the damages. my dad hit a big pot hole that was filled with water after it rained and the city paid for a new wheel and tire and alignment.
ya robert has a good idea, a guy i know on the titan forums had just put on new 35''s and drove over some hot asphalt and it melted his tires smooth lol... they paid for a new set within days
yeah, everyone is telling me to do that. but the problem is its San Francisco, it'll take forever to get anywhere with this. And.. they'll probably just end up giving me some excuse about how my truck has aftermarket suspension and it wouldnt of happend if it wasnt lowered.
went to the junk yard this weekend and got another strut rod/bracket. i also put on a good spare and now my truck drives straight. now im just waiting on the rim issue....
