Can you all help me I just bought the truck and decided to tear the interior apart and discovered that the cab floor where all the trucks rust, I have a little surface rust thank god. But what can I do to fix it once I sand it down to prevent it.
I would use POR-15 on it. Make sure you get all of it sanded down to bare metal, no rust left, clean, then paint with POR-15. best stuff to kill rust. An alternitave would be to use rustolium paint. Any of the colors will do, it works well, but POR-15 works better. Ive used both and they give good results.
Thanks Thanks for all the info. Really appreciate it I think I will use the Por-15. Do you know where is a good place to get it.
Rustoleum rust-converting primer works well. Just remove all the loose rust with a wire brush, wipe it down, and it turns everything that's left into primer.
You can just do the rust you see. I would paint all i could with it...it will help in the future. when i yanked my bed, I did the whole back end of my frame in it. all i did was scrub with a wire brush, pressure wash, let dry and paint.
best place is online unless you can find a vendor near you. http://www.por15.com/ you can also get it on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/POR-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
How much Por-15 do you think I need for the cab floor? Will 1 quart do? How many coats should I put down?
....... Well, i did my frame with one quart, and had a little left over. but if your wanting to do more then your floor, i would get 2. but one should be enough for the floor.
Most auto paint suppliers carry Por-15.Wear a long sleeve shirt( old one) & latex gloves as it does not come off once dry! And if you spray it use a resporator!!!
