I need to replace my side doors mirrors. I want to stay with the dumbo size door mounted chrome mirrors. I'm not going to repaint the truck so I need to reinstall new ones in the place of old ones I would like to use the same wholes. I'm having a hard time finding ones that fit. Most of the ones I have found are 5x8 from an F-100 pick up. And the truck uses 3x8 so the wholes wont fit. I found something close to what I have but its the 5x8 size. http://www.carid.com/1985-ford-f-150-mirrors/dorman-side-mirror-16072810.html I need a whole mirror for the passenger side and for the driver side I need the plastic mounting brackets. I can reuse the mirror I have, the chrome is not in the best condition but it fits. Have any of you guys changed your mirrors to this type. And if so where did you find them?
Try somewhere like Summit or similar parts vendors. You might be able to just pick a brand and call them up with your mounting hole specs to see which model of theirs works on your truck.
What I did was found F150 mirrors that looked like the ones I have. Then I bend the legs and adjusted the door anchor to fit my doors drilled some wholes and baam new mirrors on both sides.
I like the link u posted on this page all the way at the top ^ will these fit since the truck is 3x8 not 5x8
These are the ones I got: 1980 Ford F100 Truck Manual 5" x 8" Stainless Steel Mirror Pair PART #: 1AMRP00014 From 1AAUTO.COM These wont fit right out of the box. The legs are wide and will cover 60% of the door but if you bend the legs so the anchor points are closer to each other then it will fit. There is a bit of customization needed which I enjoyed figuring it out. Let me know if this will work out for you.
Not for the 78 model, 81 and above yes 78 hilux with the anchor legs they do not make it any more. Toyota never made a mirror for the passenger side for the 78 model. @yovanny jimenez On what model truck are you trying to add mirrors to?
ONLY thing is the mirrors now have 4 holes and the new ones would use 2 only so the lower holes would stay ope unless i weld them in or bondo which i dont want bondo.
Yes that is the beauty of customization, you have to improvise. You can go with the small 2 whole mirrors, or go with the big mirrors and then just match wholes like I did. I had the same problem that's why I went with the big mirrors, it was easier for me to drill then weld. Plus I really like the big mirrors it give it character. Just my opinion. I support your decision let me know what you find I will try to dig up my previous invoice of the black mirror and see where I bought it from and what I paid for it. Good luck and take some pics.
