Ball joint flip and blocks won't affect the length of the shocks on the Toyota trucks. So if those 2 methods have been used to lower, then you need stock length shocks. If you use drop torsions or drop leafs, then you could use shorter shocks, but probably get away with stock length if you check to see how much rod is left at full compression. Put a zip tie on it and go for a drive. I still prefer KYB Monomax. (when I'm not installing QA1 coil overs)
Beefed taco, i heard some mean things about those. Also heard the price is reasonable. You figured out a way to put those on a toyota yet. Edit: Nevermind i see the IRS in the pic you posted.
Would it hurt anything if you put drop shocks on a truck that has blocks and torisons and bj flip done?
coilovers on an 87 would be a lot of work. the upper shock mount is designed for a small diameter shock. you would have to find a coilover that fits in between the control arms and doesn't rub throughout the travel. lots of welding and measuring. And basically would be redesigning the whole suspension. That pic a few post back is not irs. Does anyone know the travel of a RE6 Slam bag?
+1 for monomax I got them CHEAP from octaneautosupply on ebay very happy about how they perform with 3" blocks, BJ flip and a bit of torsion crank - I will be adding custom BJ spacers soon to reduce my torsion crank and improve handling
I wanted to let u guys know that 97-2004 Dakota and 99-03 Durango front shocks will fit perfectly with no mods and they're 1"-1.5" shorter than the Toyota shocks! U might already know but just figured I'd throw it out there.
