I have a 91 with a clutch that fades to the floor a d doesn't engage the clutch. Now at first I thought it might be the master cylinder but it is completely dry around it and the fluid level is normal, I check behind the rubber boot on the slave cylinder but dry there too! The only thing I could think of is the internal components of the master cylinder are going and seeping past the rubber grommet, what do you guys think?
Have a friend pump on the pedal and see how much throw you are getting from the piston an the clutch slave. If not much then problem is from there back.
When I pump the clutch that when it starts to sink, not when I'm holding down on it! I DONT KNOW I'm still thinks a Master Cylinder
also check the lines at the flares i had one crack and suck air on a m/c also had one crack and brake off slave
TO bearing won't "fade" like that. it's a lump of metal, if it compresses you're in trouble. Stop being a cheapa** and replace them both and the ribber line with it. 8 out of 10 times you'll have to replace the other one a week later because it's just as old. Neither is exactly breaking the bank. Also, since there's no sign of leakage, there's no way of telling which one is doing it (Though I'll admit it's much more likely the master in this situation).
