so I dropped the gas tank and it is all sorts of rust scales and nasty. What should I do? I am thinking these two things:

    1) I can get it dipped and sealed at the radiator shop for 100$

    2) or search the junk yard for a better tank

Will I have any luck at the junk yard? Or should i just get it dipped and coated?

I would have it dipped & sealed...when/if you find another tank it most likely will have the same problems.

I vote dipped and sealed. More than likely if it has been sitting at a yard it doesn't have much gas in it if any which means it is going to have the same problem.

You can do it yourself for cheaper! I took my tank to the radiator shop and they stated that there were no guarantees, even after looking at my tank which isn't bad AND they still wanted $100 either way. So, I'm doing it myself.

Check out my post on Ratsun: Fuel Tank Restoration

The link offers information on DIY kits I found and a couple links on how to DIY the right way!

I have a Datsun 620 that I'm working on along side my rn34! I'm going to do my datsun and toyota tank at the same time.

I hope that helps your decision.:waytogo:
