I found this truck with only a tad over 40,000 miles on it. Looks like a former security vehicle. But you got the infamous rusty seam. I saw this same thing on my 85 and it was much more pronounced on my old toyota I am just wondering if there is anything to do at this point to stop the cancer? Or is this bed doomed to be the same way so many more are? This is for sale in eastern Washington, assuming it was close to there its not a rust belt truck, although I haven't looked into its history yet. Thoughts?
If its just starting, you could always look to do like POR-15 or something like that. Just depends how bad the rust is.
go to por15.com If there isn't any metal left, then doing por-15 won't do much but stop it or slow it down. So you really need to see how bad the rust is first.
Thanks Last time I tried to do something like this all I knew about was grinding and rustoleum primer.
Hey fellas, wondering, does ANYONE know where I can find a bedside like this. need a driver's side, non gas tank door bedside, please, input is much appreciated! Cab find one anywhere. The cancer got it pretty good, but bout aonth ago someone decided to back into it in a parkin lot at the local Walmart.
once the rust starts .. it's doomed ! any work done is only a band aid .. , my only suggestion , is don't spend a lot of money to fix it , you will be disappointed .
I don't need the business as I'm currently BOOKED for 2.5 years ! ... so this is not a "for sale" add , thank you very much , just tryin' to help . what I was saying is , Toyota beds are very prone to rust , in some areas there are 4 layers of steel . fixing the rust you can see is just not enough , and this is where most people waste there money . you need to dig deeper , and make sure you get all of it .
