I was going through my '71 Hilux today, cleaning grounds and checking connections, when I discovered that the wiring on my voltage regulator is absolutely fried. I'm going to be checking for more problems, but at the moment, I think I need a new regulator.

The regulator I have right now is a mechanical type, I am wondering if there are any solid-state regulators out there that would be a direct match for this truck? I don't mind mechanical regulators, but it would be nice to upgrade since I have it out already.

The only reason I got started on this is that my headlights dim slightly when my turn signal blinks. Suppose this might have been the problem?
