I am looking for rear speaker ideas for a 2wd standard cab with bucket seats. I am just doing minor upgrades to my daily driver.

rear speakers are completely unnecessary and a waste of space. To make that truck sound the best without breaking the bank; put a decent set of components in the doors, get a sub and a 4 channel amp to run it all. If you can fit it in the budget buy some dynamat.

I'm with you alan, speakers in the rear is a great idea, I want to do that myself when I swap out my vinyl bench. Here's an idea! Build a small speaker box and buy some of that cheap, imitation carpeting that Wal Mart sells to upholster it. Gotta make it removable so the jack can be removed, just in case. Another thought I had last year was that (since I do have the bench) build a custom center console, doesn't have to be as extreme as TRUCK ACTION's, and put two speakers in the sides (maybe smaller or low-profile speakers.

My truck is a base model it never had the speakers in the dash, the speakers that are installed are after market. They are 6.5" in the doors. I had a bass tube in my truck but you could feel it when you rode in the passenger seat and or it would vibrate the steel so I took it out to put in my Supra.

odd ive had 2 of these trucks that were both base model and they still had the mounting spot on the lower dash behind the covers for 4's

my last truck i ran some lightning audio 4 way 6x9s in the doors and some boston 4's in the dash with bass blockers on em sounded pretty damn good with a crappy panosonic 50x4 hu

i plan to do the same set up in this truck cepy im getting infinity 4's from a friend and im going to go with a certain pioneer 6x9s and maybe keep the base tube the P.O left in the truck

I have the speaker mounts in the dash, but no hardware and the holes are not threaded.

I made 6 1/2 speaker pods out of my kick panel by casting fiberglass on them... running MB Quarts seperate components and a custom fibergalss 10" sealed sub box that I also made out of fiberglass.. the only downside of all of this is that we are restricted on single cabs., especially when we have bucket seats.. i have montero buckets, so it'll push my seat a bit forward.. I've gotten used to it though.. I think bench seats have more space to work with...
