I got a new gauge cluster from a junk yard to replace my busted cluster. I was wondering if there is a way that I can set the numbers on the Odometer to what my old cluster was so that I know how many miles I have accurately on my truck. This cluster reads 338k thats a whole lot more than are actually on it.
well, there is one method that some of the shady car dealers use, and that's grabbing a power drill and rigging it up to reverse the mileage and then leaving it powered on and running for a day or two. I've heard they burn out a drill every 50-100k miles or so. It'd probably be faster to just dismantle the odometer, but I've never done it so I don't know how badly you can screw it up.
You need to find a local Speedometer shop. They will be able to reset the odometer. It takes a special tool to do it.

Hey look everybody, I got a truck with only 1100 miles! I don't know why the body is rusted through and the motor burns oil. It says low miles.
