Well I finally went and bought the truck. It is a 1986 Toyota pick up truck, automatic, extended bed, standard cab, 200,000 miles, carbureted. Picked it up and hour and a half north in Wisconsin for 400 bucks and we were able to drive it the hour and a half back. Which made it easier. Good It runs and made hour and half drive home 3 tires with decent tread left Frame has surface rust Bad, everything else... Exterior - bent bumpers - needs new fenders all around - one tire is worn down to the metal - one headlight is good. Other is dim - window trim is practically gone and has silicone all around it Engine - Rough idle but that is because the exhaust dumps after the header - Tail lights are jacked. One turn signal is good. Other makes rest of tail lights flicker. Break lights don't light up when you hit breaks, turn signals light up instead Interior - driver window missing crank - leaks from windshield - floor is rusted out and exhaust leaks into car Dropped it off at my friends and was running late for work so no photos First on list is to finish exhaust, oil change, tune up, and replace worn tire Overall goal, make reliable ... Want to be able to tow my bikes and carry things in bed. Eventually repair bed and cab floor then engine swap.
Throw new sealed beams on it $20 For the turn signal lighting everything else up, pull the lens off and see if the little divided between the light sections is busted. If thats the problem just make divider. Pretty easy Check the grounds and connections on the tails too. Window cranks are on ebay for like $15
I got stuff to do a tune up from the local Car Quest. I will be getting a new tire as well to replace the bald one. My friend said he was just walking around the truck, looking at it and noticed the smell of gas. From one of the rust holes in the side of the truck, you can see the gas tank, and he said it seems to be leaking a little from a house. I'm not sure but I'm going there Friday to look at it and see what's going on. I will take a couple photos then too.
check out the driver side from the front bumper, headlight, and front fender. looks like it hit something i'm goign to work on taking off all the stickers tomorrow too.
removed stickers removed gas tank - replaced fuel filter and fuel pickup line - re installed tank patch weld the frame behind the gas tank where there was a hole installed muffler and piping tune up drove to my house and there were loose connections with fuel lines so it leaked in my garage a little bit there is a crack in part of the header, to close to the frame to weld, trying temporary fix for now going to junkyard this weekend for new tail lights and tail gate
ordered new tail lights from ebay. . . have to wait until the end of the month before they arrive. Hopefully the issue will be solved from that. a 3.8 n/a motor has fallen into my lap, and im getting a trans from a 2000 v6 camaro. So forget the 22R, time to focus on this engine swap
Well motor didn't work out. Still trying to find short. It is in the cab, something to do with a yellow/blue wire. To be continued.
