I think if you hit the paint with some ultimate compound, maybe clay, and wax, i think it'll come out pretty sharp
Thanks guys. Here is some coverage of our Japanese Classic show we had last Saturday. Eric from JDM Legends proclaimed that my truck was his favorite. JDM Legends Blog » Salt City Tinners 8/13 CAMautoMag » Japanese Classic Car Show
Been awhile since I updated. Was spending my time getting it ready for JCCS. Me and a buddy of mine with a Tundra trailered it down to So Cal and then cruised it 45 minutes each way to the show at the Queen Mary. No issues. It's a rat truck and not perfect by any means but it runs well and is a blast to drive. Grandson towing the grandfather: People liked the truck at the show. Got first place in Toyota truck/SUV which surprised me. And Speedhunters took notice. After the show we cruised over to Shoreline Village in Long Beach and valeted our cars. I'm next to my friend's SR20DET '72 Datsun 620. When we aired out the truck all the valet guys pulled out their phones. There were some cool Toys at the show including this RHD '73 with a 22re on Starions and a super clean original owner '88 4x next to it. And this clean Hilux with an 18rg. As far as my truck... I put in a simple air management system. Viair 275C compressor and 2 gallon tank. Enough to raise the truck once without the compressor kicking in. Modified the seat so it would conceal everything behind it and manual valves in the radio hole. And to control the ride up front I made brackets to hold '79 Chrysler Cordoba shocks (7.75" compressed). Grade 8 bolts welded into the lower A arm. Works well and I am pleased with it. I don't think its too bad for my first attempt at this. That's about it at the moment. Driving it regularly and working out some bugs. Here are a few more from the show and cruise.
Thanks guys! Its lots of fun but every now and then when I run into another project I think of selling it. Especially in the winter when I don't get to drive it much. The film maker Josh Clason, best known for his Depth of Speed videos did a video of my wagon and Hilux back in October. I haven't seen the finished product yet but it should be out soon. I will post a link when it comes out. It was lots of fun doing rolling shots. Depth of Speed Also, found it on Stance|Works too. Japanese Classic Car Show | StanceWorks
Looks flat out nasty man. I'd lose the bumper but that stance... good god. You pulled off the look perfect.
You're truck is sick! I like it all except that rear bumber. It's too bulky looking and takes away the true beauty!
WOW that truck is SIK looking bro. But i have to agree with the rest about that back bumper. Yank it off and throw it away.
Thanks guys! The bumper was an experiment and came off as soon as I got home. I thought it might add to the look but you are absolutely right- it's huge! I had to go back and look at the original pics to see if I had it on right. I considered modifying it for a short time but it will probably just get recycled I'm going to get some more shots with it off. As far as the logo, I designed it on Illustrator then had it cut out of vinyl. Then I sanded through to the original white/bondo/primer what ever was under there. Pretty pleased with how it came out. My son Miles helped me design and sand it. "Million Mile" is a tip of the hat to how long Toyota's last.
