My '91 w/ 22re overheated on me on the freeway today. I tried to limp it to my work where we have a shop and it didn't make it. I lost power and had to pull over. I waited until it cooled off and added water to it to try and get it to work but it wouldn't start. It will crank but it almost seems like it's not getting a spark.

The oil looks ok so it doesn't appear to have blown the head gasket but any ideas on what I should check first?

I'm going to have to borrow a gauge to check compression. I just tried to crank it again and a pretty good stream of water came out of the exhaust (have a leak in engine compartment) so that would point to a likely blown head gasket right?
