ok so it idles fine, hard accelerates fine, smokes single cammed hondas. but when i drive normal in any gear about 2k it hesitates and "misses" almost feels like a vacuum leak but i cant find any. it seems worse at 2k but goes away about after 3k. any options?

is it a soft miss or a hard miss at 2000 rpms +?

things im thinking..... maybe EGR going bad? could be a bad plug as well.... not sure.... hard to diagnose a "miss" without being there....

fuel pump is possible but at higher revs its fine so thats ruled out. i have a 3 year old dizzy and new cap rotor and plugs. ima hook up my truck to a lab scope tommoro so check the inputs for the ign module and output.

this one has me slightly puzzled........ but im still guessing something in your smog equipment is causing the sputter.... or a bad plug

somthing else i was thinking is a valve sticking? but doubt it....

didnt know you de-smogged. good move :D

ive cracked plugs before about a week after i had them just defective..... actually happened twice. different cylinder same plug type (think they were rapid fires or something) but it just dropped a cylinder in that case.

like i said, its got me thinking since its only around that certain rpm range and idle is fine.let us know what you find.

I gots no truck, for now
issue with the vacume advance on the distributor...check it with a timing light. can you rev it and make the miss happen or is it only when you have a load on the motor and you hit 2k rpms?

if you had the head off it mean you had the distributor out..make sure your timing is correct

well today i hooked it up to a lab scope and the stuff is fine. the carb jus cant flow the fuel out fast enough thats y it hesitated at 2k but when i floored it the accelerator pump would make up for it. shet i figured its time that 25 year old carb had to go sometime.

its also not the first time i did a head job so setting timing is almost gauranteed the first time.
