I'm seriously regretting buying that truck now! The craigslist pictures didn't do it any justice lol.

I know right? im super happy with it. he also sold me a pair of 4x4 flares off a '81 parts truck he had laying around and the round headlight buckets from it.

he kept the black 18's that were on it in the craigslist pic, so I got the truck for $1200. (plus 200 to rent a trailer and about 300 in fuel).

 

Looks like a good contender for mods. Looking forward to see what you do with it

 

first mod...took the big ol' clunky bumper off the back.

 

took it to inspection station yesterday....those who know jersey know how the state is...and she PASSED with flying colors. Mechanic was amazed.

 

JUST GOT MY NEW HEADLINER TRIM PIECES....BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THATS HOW MUCH THEY FADED IN 33 YEARS.

 

GOT SOME MORE STUFF IN OVER THE WEEKEND...JUST HAVE TO FIND TIME.

 

SIZING UP.

 

SO LAST NIGHT I TACKLED THE FRONT BUMPER...HAD TO SWITCH OUT BUMPER BRACKETS SINCE THE 79-81 BUMPER WENT ON.




NOW TO FIND A DRIVERS SIDE TURN SIGNAL.

 

Last night I decided to start the round headlight conversion. Buckets line up to all three bolt holes. Only problem is the three bolt holes are not threaded like the four original holes of the '82-83 square buckets. Top right and bottom hole can easily be reached from infront of rad support to get a nut behind a stainless bolt. The top left lands in between fender skin and fender (not sure if I'm calling them their correct part names but anyway). I had to take a part the wheel well liner to get to the other bolt hole to add a nut. Still waiting for the chrome 4wd grill from Australia along with the right turn signal in the bumper. Guy had them both on ebay! As far as the driver side, I have the round bucket but cant locate a chrome door. I might put the bucket on with the headlight and wait.

 

I love the round headlights!

I'd be doing the same thing if I had a 82-83

 

The early front end looks so much better

 

Everybody with round headlights wants square and square want round.
