I talked to acouple of muffler guys about magnaflow/flowmaster and they said the sound would be real tinty and with a 4 cyl. it's just not going to do much. I rather go stock $$$ wise if that's the case. can anyone post a video with an 84-88 with their muffler info

our trucks are ricey without the cat. it makes it reallllllll raspy, so keep it on and don't gut it. You won't gain hp, you'll lose torque.

Flowmasters sound annoying because they are a chambered design that slows down air and reflect the sound waves all over the place.

Magnaflows are straight through and provide a deep tone. I know they're built pretty well too. I hit a cinderblock last winter. broke my o2, dented my cat, didn't damage the magnaflow, wow, and bent my u-bolts.
MY magnaflow is an offset inlet to offset outlet design, so it helps the exhaust notes get absorbed and tone her down a bit, but the overall design is still straight through.

same here... my friend had a Flowmaster 40 on his 22R/22RE and 3VZ-E and all three sounded really cheap.... nasty. makes me shiver upon thought.

or when you hear those domestic 4cyls or 6cyls with the flowmasters and the sticker on the rear window.. :puke:

I'm finding that installation for a magnaflow with pipping is $225. Does that seem about the right price?
