I'm looking to do headers. With 2.25 inch piping into the cat and out the back to the muffler and so on on my 1993 2wd 4cyl 5speed. I want a clean deep sound without the ricer sound or any type of bee buzzing noices. I have not heard either brand on a truck like mine yet. I heard that magnaflow is good. And I have read a lot of positive feedback from borla. Is it necessary to pay the extra money on a borla or will the magnaflow give me what I'm looking for?

On Friday I entered a muffler shop and an employee/owner there told me that both magnaflow and borla are identical. Practically twins. Same material same sound same everything. Not sure if he is correct but I don't want to doubt a person that own a muffler shop and does this for a living.

Anyways any help is good thank you.

Well I'm running stock manifold but I put on a Magnaflow cat with a Super 40 series from Flow Master with 2.25 out the back and it sounds damn good. No stupid ricer sound either. Sorry I don't have a recording I can post.

The flowmaster 40 or 50 will sound good, that is until one of the welded baffles comes loose and it sounds like a swarm of pissed off bees trying to chase down a honda. Its happened twice for me.
The magnaflow I have now isn't raspy at all and sounds good but isn't as deep as the flowmaster was but its not as loud either, which I like. The only borla I have heard was on a coworkers stock tacoma 3.4 and it was loud inside and had lots of cab resonance. look on youtube for 22re exhaust clips. There are lots on there to listen to

I just put a no name glass pack on today. Went to a local muffler shop and got it installed for kinds cheap. sounds good. it is deeper and gives a nice pop when downshifting. I have stock piping. Cherry bombs are glass packs, so I guess they sound similar.

I love it. I am very happy with the resulting sound as I cruise down the road. Sounds good when it echoes against walls too.

Tell me about it. I spent 1200 on rebuilding the engine. 220 on switching the disks and and other things. And exactly last month I rear ended a jeep. Hit the spare tire that they carry in the rear. Nothing happen to the jeep but my poor truck was trashed. The hood, bumper, radiator, radiator shroud & grille were bent and broken. That was another 220 and still need the grille and shroud. Now I got the k and n on the way. I'm still debating on using lowering blocks or leafs. When I do drop it I'll throw on the 17s. That alone will give it a new look.

    What are your plans lilred93?

Gonna buy a drop block kit from Beefed Taco, and then get some drop spindles. Don't wanna go too low cuz it's my daily driver and I love to go cruise up the canyons and dirt roads. Nothing to harsh on the truck though. Then give it a good paint job and bucket seats.
