Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm having a bit of a problem. I have a 1980 2wd with a fairly stock 20r. I did an EGR delete due to a leak and since then my idle feels a little rough, I have slightly low power and when I'm driving it rattles like I'm going down a dirt road. I thought it might have been missing and replaced the plugs, wires, rotor and cap; but no luck. Has anyone else had this issue?

Check your timing with a timing light. It sounds like it's a bit retarded.

rattle - might be timing chain guides bad. or timing is off. it may be "pinging"
does it sound like 2 skeletons ******* on a tin roof? lol

There's no pinging. But at low rpms it feels like I'm driving a jack hammer.

Sorry about that. The entire truck rattles and shakes on take off until about 3000-3500 rpm. It feels like it's lacking a lot of power in that range as well. I played with the timing tonight and it seemed to help. I'll find out for sure tomorrow morning.

its possible the A/F mix is wrong.
my friends car (78 celica 20R) would bog and miss under moderate to heavy load. would cut out power bad. tuned the carb a little better and now runs like a champ.

it is possible that with timing adjust, u may be masking this issue.
