    ****ty man, a rebuild will run close to a new long block anywho sooooooo start saving. get around $1100 and you can get a nice new engine in there (non rebuilt head too).

    i think you should just change your headgasket and the seals, and maybe replace the timing chain assembly, and as you go just carefully inspect things for cracks or wear. like the timing cover and other gaskets. take the motor out, its not hard.

    Should have kept... '88 4x4 22RE
    If I keep this long enough, that OE engine is trash... will be replaced be a newer 22RE or even a carbed 22R. I don't want it completely dead... Not for at least another good 22 years...
