Hey guys, I was doing the head gasket on my truck when I noticed that the valves seem way way way out of adjustment, I mean at points there is maybe a quarter inch between cam and valve. I figured at first that it may just be an issue of the cam not lifting the specific rocker I was looking at but most of them are like this. Anyone seen something similar? I'm not even sure if I can adjust them back to normal

Nah, I haven't even put any miles on it since buying it because of school not allowing me to have enough time to get it running

I'll snap some pictures today. I'm hoping to get the head back on today and I can't adjust valves regardless unless the truck is warm so I'll make sure to get pictures if it's back together.

Setting the valve lash when warm is a great idea in theory. I've done it cold every time and gone back to check when warm more than once. It was never any different.
You really can't get to them fast enough after shutdown to get them as hot as would be desirable from a heat expansion perspective.
I don't even bother checking when hot these days. I have over 150,000 on it since I bought it and I've pulled the head at least 8 times that I can think of. Still purrs like a kitten.
