I was wondering... How much money do you guys spend on your truck or willing to spend. is it worth it? I mean if you do sell, people say you won't get the money spent on it back... which is sometimes true. My Current Spending: 1800$ 89 Toy 600$ New clutch + transmisson seals 2000$ Body Repair, New Paint, Shaved 700$ dvd player, neons, w7 subwoffer Total = 5100$ I still gotta get it bagged body slam or least 2'' from ground. New interior (seats.. ect). Rims.. Imagine getting ina wreck....
look into custom car insurance. you have to get the vehicle appraised but its worth it. and i don't really pay attention to how much i spend on my rides. i really just enjoy building for the fun of it, and not worrying about resale.
come on guys, dont be scared to say how much you guys spent, i think i spent little more just because i had some people do it instead of me.

id say but idk how much my dad really got me my truck for.. when i got the pink slip it said $800 but my dad told my mom 3000... im leaning to 800 haha, so bout 400 on my front clip, 100 for head unit and 6.5 speakers, 50 for 4" speakers, seats were free, and my newest addition, 20" rims... pues, so far im at 1600 or 3800, depending on how much the truck cost n baby im only gettin started haha
haha, I'm aswell just getting started on mine. Its gonna take while, but once done, it gonna be mighty sexy.
ive got too many cars... so ill just list the hilux purchase $150 seats FREE 3in lowering block kit $40 cut springs FREE wheels $175 tires $400 parts truck $100 spray paint, sand paper, glazing putty $50 fuel pump $40 lots o man hours priceless so im at $955 both the wheeler n the wagon have been the most expensive, somewhere around $2.5k for the same sorta list. so id say total build cost, including original purchase (by me) for the whole fleet is prolly somewhere around $7-8k
I won't post the amount I'm into my build, but will say that if you start a custom build,be it a bike, car, truck,or boat, you will go no less than $30,000,if you do things right, & much farther if you are into it! Insurance is a important factor, for value! And finding a company that will insure Mini Trucks isn't easy! And most Mini Truckers don't take it deep into their projects or insure them. Indoor show vehicles have $40,000 or more just in the paint job! And most of those are shop built, add another $70,000 to $100,000. Mini Trucks are moving into this area, but ever so slow! We will @ some time in place be excepted into the hot rodding fold. I do what I can to see this happen!
I have to say that this aspect of mini truckin doesn't really impress me. I am more in the hot rodding influence in the oldest and purest sense. Back when hot rodding originated it wasn't about sinking $40,000 into your rides paintjob. It was about wrenching, tuning, and chopping your vehicle to perform better for your driving experience. I have been into the rat rods as long as I have known about them, but it is just a look, and it is a very expensive one. For example, I would like to build an early thirties Plymouth into a chopped and channeled rat rod. Unfortunately even a rusty shell of a body sitting in a field would cost thousands of dollars. In the end it would be a really expensive car that was made to look ratty. I like the aspect that the rat rod look is trying to simulate. The hot rodders that aren't as concerned with high dollar builds as with creating the perfect custom high performance driving experience. I realize that the really over the top paintjobs have a strong role in minitruckin, but I personally have way more respect for some graphiti tagger turned airbrusher spraying a custom mural on his truck or someone doing a homebrew pinstripe job than someone who goes out and finds a shop to paint a $40,000 paint job. Anyway, enough of the ranting. So far my truck is winning the low buck contest. I was going to wait til I had pics of all my new parts on to post this up but what the hell... '89 carbeurated short bed: Free on account of the cab was the only straight sheet metal. 2 fenders, 1 hood, 1 drivers side door: $170 Drop spindles: $100 Lexus is300 Chrome rims with mediocre tires: $350 1" Spacers off ebay: $125 Lugnuts: $40 For a whopping grand total of $785 I still really need to find a bed, and with airbag and fourlink parts I will undoubtedly be nearing 2k before too long, but I am planning to stick with my ballin on a budget theme for the duration. I am going to do all of my own fabrication and paint. Stay tuned for updates.
