Im having problems with my 94 yota(22re EFI). When I first start is it idles really high...even afeter being on for 10-15 min idle does not drop. Ive check all the vacuum lines & they seem to be fine. Any suggetstions?
There's a heat control that water goes through on the passenger side of the block. This acts as a choke, idles high when cold ,then drops the idle once the engine reaches running temps. Could be bad or a broken wire @ the unit!
thanks for the info...exactly where is it located? is it the knock sensor youre talking about. Done some research & it may be bad also...pulled the trouble code & got 13
well after many hours of research online & testing just about every sensor i could think of (Knock, coolant temp...etc) & doublechecking all the vacuum lines...my last option was the IAC valve which is located directly below the throttle body. Unplugged all the hoses & throttle sensor. Removed throttle body & discoverd that the outlet on the IAC was completely blocked not allowing the coolant to flow. Disassembled & completely cleaned the throttle body with some parts cleaner & installed a new gasket hooked everything up & it completely solved my idle problem. Purrs like a kitten! Just hope this helps somebody with the same problem! Thanks Truck Action for your suggestion!
