Last night i started my truck put the clutch in went to shift into 1st and wouldnt go into gear. I then turned my truck off and tried shifting it into 1st with it off it worked fin. I started my truck with the clutch in and in 1st and it started moving forward with the clutch all the way down. Now its really weird because it wont shift. But then out of nowhere it will shift perfect. Or youll take off it will be fine then go to shift into 2nd and it wont shift and same with 3rd 4th 5th. But its got a mind of its own it will shift flawlessly 2 seconds later. OK now heres the most annoying part. I have replaced the tranny, clutch, slave cyl, master cyl within the last 10 months so im really lost here any help i would greatly appreciate.
no my fluid level hasnt changed, and I got under the truck and checked for leaks but everything is dry. I had my dad pump the clutch while i was underneath but still didnt see any fluid. Im going to bleed it tomorrow to rule out if there is any air bubbles in the line. any other suggestions?
Yea im going to agree with Shonuff on this one. I think you have a air bubble. Give it a good bleed and watch for air. Another option.... make sure the slave is mounted with the bleed screw on the top. Im not calling you stupid but i have seen people mount calipers and such with the screw on the bottom and when they bleed it they think the air is out but really its not! Just a thought!
ya i bled the master before i put it on. and yes my bleed screw is on the side of my slave. im guna bleed it and get back to you guys with the result. thanks for your help
my thought is possibly a bad seal in the master.... might be blowing by on one pump.... look under the dash where the clutch peddal assembly hooks up to and see if the back of the master is weeping fluid under there.
im going to assume that when you bled the master you didnt allow the fluid to run empty in the resivour.... right?
alright heres the deal the clutch and everything has been perfect since i replaced everything ive been having not a single problem for months. I didnt just install all this stuff and immediatly started having this problem.
update Adjusted the slave cyl seemed to make a differance drove down to the beach was working perfect on my way back up my street it wouldnt go into 2nd and started being weird again. Havent had a chance to bleed it yet due to the fact that I dont have someone to push the pedal. I really hope that it just needs to be bled because if not im pretty much screwed.
u dont need someone else, u can do it by urself! heres how. things u need. 1. a clear bottle, glass or plastic 2. hose to go on the bleeder screw to the bottle (u decide on length) 3. brake fluid 4. wrench for the bleed screw 5. marker here what u do next. 1.Fill the bottle u have up with brake fluid, not the whole bottle just alittle bit, just under a 1/4 2.loosen the bleed screw 3.put hose on bleed screw, then put other end in bottle making sure the hose sits inside the fluid. 4. pump the pedal a few times. 5. get out and mark where the fluid is. 6. pump pedal agian 7. check and see if the fluid moved past the line. 8. if so tighten bleed screw. 9.clean up if this doesnt work u have to gravity bleed it. its easy, just put a catch container under the slave cylinder and open the bleed screw until it starts to leak. then let it drip for say 10min. but make sure the master cylinder stays full. this will help clear air bubbles too. i had to do the gravity bleed on my truck, took 2 shots but the peddle was stiff as hell, which is the way i like mine. Hope this helps, if not ask another question and i will try to help some more.
last night Well last night I put it up on the lift bled the slave aswell as adjust the clutch pedal. Still does all the same stuff. So ive come to the conclusion that I have either a defected clutch or something slipped out of place inside the bell housing. so heres the plan. -Sunday night back on the lift, pull the tranny get the clutch off. -Monday morning have the flywheel turned pick up the new clutch. -Monday night put everything back together. I promise to have some pictures up aswell as the process, and the truck. Thanks alot for all the help, info and support
Yeah if it wasnt such a huge job id say check the Syncro's in the tranny...... see if the dogteeth are all chewed up... or if the blocker ring is worn. It is brass and they are meant to wear.
fully rebuilt. the tranny is fine. Its the clutch like I said prior the truck shifts perfectly most of the time. and when you turn the truck off it shifts into gear perfectly.
