So i am about to put the pump back in the tank and I am wondering how to test the relief "T" in the tank. Can i do with out it and just bypass it? Or is it essential? I can't locate a new one, is there one i can use from another toyota?

it is only a "1 way valve" ... simple check ..

just blow in 1 way .. there should be "flow"
blow in the other way , and there should be no "flow" ...

Actually its a pressure relief valve, has no restriction either direction unless the line is plugged in the flow direction then it lets the fuel pressure bypass into the tank instead of building line pressure, such as if the electric pump were to be running with the engine off, it won't build excess pressure against the needle valve in the carb and cause flooding or fuel spilling out the carb vent.

I can not for the life of me find one, i am sure mine is dead, it is so gunked up. I checked at the dealership and all of the auto part stores, I tried a few manufactures to. I cant find anything similar. Can i make one from a brass "T" and put a one way valve on it? Can I by pass it? if i do by pass it would it burn up the pump?

I am now considering to switch to an inline electric pump. Anyone know how to make this happen? Has any one done this? ShoNuff?

thanks for all your help guys

You could mount an inline on the frame rail next to the tank, on the side, on the top, or even on the bottom, if your gonna be layin frame, bottom might not be a great spot though:D My 75 has it mounted on the side of the frame rail, a cheapo prefilter before it goes into pump, then on to a large cartridge filter mounted underneath, then to the bypass regulator and carb, thats my setup.
