Ive been seaching for a good looking canopy for the 79-83 body style and i cant find any thing, any body know of a company that makes one or know if one off a newer toy would work?(my guess is the cab shape is way off) I want a suv so my idea is turn my truck into a trekker like rig. Im tired of the lack of space in my standard cab pickup, but i love my truck and i like how lite it is 2450lbs, and maybe a samurai is the only suv that light.

Will do. The only thing i have came up with is the trekker top that toyota fiberglass has but not sure it is the right size or if the trekker bed is even close to the thing as mine. I know they look slightly different.

 

I've seen older fiberglass canopies on those trucks. They look good. And could accomplish your goal of a walk-through and back seat. I have the same basic idea for a 74-78 but by splitting the cab at the back pillar and moving it to the tailgate. Then making filler panels for the rest and welding it all up solid. It will still be a 2 door. I say go for it.

Dont know if or anything you will find new for our trucks. Keep an eye out on craigslist, found mine for $100 but its as old as my truck.

I got one off Craigslist, it's an older Brahma and as said by oldschool...its gotta be as old as my truck. Long bed and has a gasket to buffer against the cab and I replaced the missing rear glass with plexi. All the seals around the glass has shrunk and other signs of age are there, but I do get the occasional positive remark. Will most likely paint the truck with the canopy attached this summer so I don't have to scrub the s--- out of it to make it white again(from winter green)...

They are out there, but you may have to do some repairs to make it look the part.

 

i have one that i used to have on my '87 toyota longbed (us style bed) that i would gladly trade for my longbed (japanese style bed).

i don't use it, it just sits on some blocks, great condition and have the keys to lock the rear glass.

Newb here, doing some searching. No one has stated there is something more readily available that might fit a 79-83, so I am thinking there is not. That would be correct?
