fuel tank capacity 87 toyota long bed auto 2wd

    What is the fuel tank capacity and what type of miles per gallon are you guys getting?

    long bed idk but short bed is like 16 gallons and about 20mpg

    short beds are about 12gals and if its running right you should get around 28 29mpg

    '85 Toyota 22R s-cab
    My '85 long bed 2wheel drive 5~speed has 16 gal. tank ... I avg. 29 mpg on these hilly back roads and state hwys in north central Arkansas ... :cool:

    85 single cab
    I got a short bed, single cab, 2wd, 5spd, 85'.
    My gas tank is 8.5 gal.......:confused:

    Was my tank swapped or is this right?

    I believe yours is right ... My tank was swapped out by the guy i got the truck from but i have since swapped it back to stock just after i posted that last msge here ... The stock tank i swapped back to is 11 gal. cap. tho ... It's the same capacity that originally came on this truck ... I've no idea why yours is only 8.5 ... Let me know if you find out 'cause it's got me wondering about it now ... :cool:

    From the 1987 owners manual (yes I have my owners manual):

    Short Wheelbase: 11.4 Gallons
    Others: 17.2 Gallons
