*Fuel pump I meant* thanks brudda I appreciate all the help. Also The rubber grommet that holds the pump and arm together doesn't match like the factory one. Will I have a problem with the positive end? Since its like a live wire in the tank?
Thanks brudda! Does anything need to go over the connection on the pos post? Like electrical tape or shrink wrap or anything? Sorry for all the questions. Just wanna make sure
Ok. Cool. Last question. What about the rubber grommet that holds the arm and pump together on the bottom (strainer end)
I'm having a hard time un scewing the fuel filter from the fuel lines. They are on there super tight. I got one side off and the other side is half off. It just wont budge anymore. Tried soaking it in wd40 and still wont budge. I don't want to keep forcing it and strip the nut. Any suggestions?
Man I can't catch a break with this dam truck. As I'm dropping the new pump in the tank, it seems as if somethings too big. The pump or the screen, but the lid for the tank is about 3 inches off from closing...
Did you use the filter that came on the new pump or the old one the arm the pump sits on should slide right back in the only thing I would think is that that new filter looks a bit bigger and has a non flexible plastic support built into it .the overall bracket length didn't change did it? Shouldn't
Ya I think so too try swapping over filters. But that filter doesnt look three inches taller. Make sure when you sit it in the tank the filter part sits inside that boxed in area inside the tank.
The overall length is about an inch and half bigger than the OEM one. I slightlly bent the arm so that the lid sits flush on the tank. Ok so here's where I am now... Fuel filter is done. For the fuel pump, I had to extend both the pos/neg wires that are attached to the arm to reach the pos/neg posts on the pump. using the same gauge wires and connectors i crimped on. Is there anything I can put over the crimped connections? I'm especially worried about the pos wire. I don't want it exposed cause its a hot wire once the ignition is turned on. (if im wrong please correct me) Just seems kinda sketchy it being exposed in a fuel tank. If it fine the way it is, i'm on the final stretch. This dam project is taking forever but hey, I might as well learn how to do these things.
Yea you can put some shrink wrap on it roll some electric tape around that and throw some wire loom over that some more electrical tape you get the idea anything you want I prefer shrink wrap tubes and some wire loom that will work just fine
so i button everything up...and she doesn't start -__- Fuel filter is leaking and doesn't wanna start. Fuel filter i just need to tighten more, anything else i should check out?
First tighten up that filter . And can you here the pump coming on when you turn your ignition two battery a humming noise that stops after its pressurized ...wire connection reversed . Don't no if that's possible if the pump would run backwards like screw style pump . Possibly check fuel rail connection un hook line at fuel rail turn to battery and see if fuel comes out of the fuel line let drain a bit first then turn to Battry for a second or two and see if spray fuel into a cup or jug Fuel pump relay and fuse check ?
hmm. yea could be a wiring issue. i had my girl turn the key for me while i was outside and i don't remember hearing the pump prime. I'll check that out. Thanks for all the help tho bruddas. I appreciate this alot
This dam truck is breaking my spirits! hahah -ok so wiring on the pump is good. ground and hot are good. -fuel filter is tightened. -randomly checked the spark plugs out of curiosity. theyre fine -EFI fuse is good @scrub88-gonna try the fuel rail suggestion tomorrow
