Why? It's not a strong motor. So many more potent engines out there.

thought about it as well, boosted of course just because. or even building a k20/k24 boosted combo. there are some kits to swap them into the s2000 so would have modified one of those to sit it in the Hilux.

Not a strong motor . ? Its the highest output naturally aspirated four cylinder ever produced and that record still stands even after production also one best engines of all time five years in a row for its category buy wards ....there are other options as far as power and ease of swap and cost f20 are anything but cheap
But f20c combined with its awesome six speed . Is a blast the down side it's a high rev motor and you better build the truck to handle and turn to make full use of the motor and its gear box

Revving to 9k is cool. My pos hybrid only does 7k :(

But in all seriousness it's a very bad choice for a pickup. The reasons are obvious. It has hardly enough ass to push a light s2000 without flogging the crap out of it every time you drive it. Add a couple hundred pounds in a truck.

I agree on it being a bad choice for a truck the motor doesn't get active until 6500 rpm not to mention the lack of torque ..at any rpm range .... Toyota truck wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the motors good points wich is high speed road course type activity ...for the amount that motor cost you can but pretty much buy any v8 you want ..and torque is we're its at

I think its a good idea, I even thought about doing it myself but too much $$$. The complete engine is like $5000, turbo stuff, Engine management, blah, blah. Because they have mods out the a$$, you could easily get a get a 400+ HP engine and your only modification to the truck would be drive shaft and engine mounts. However, a 1UZ-FE is a very affordable swap. You can get just the engine for like $400-$600. A complete one for $700 - $900. Or you can just buy a Lexus LS400 for $1200 - $1500, keep what you need and part out the rest or junk the rest. I am going with the last option

That would be the only way I'd do it. Fully built with a custom turbo kit, hondata ecu management and just have some all around fun. Or simcha done s2k guys would swap in a k20/k24 I would modify that kit to work in the yota and build it similar to a buddy if mines setup.

Nah, don't make it front wheel drive, that's gay. Unless you are talking about some how making it a rear mounted rear wheel drive. Like I said, I think its a good idea and I think I saw a Nissan hard body with a F20C.

I found this picture of it.

Here is a video of someone doing it to a Toyota, I think he set it too high on the frame though.

i think they sell brackets or conversions to flip the motor if you run a K to keep it RWD

innovative makes mounts to swap in a k series into the s2k cassis and keep it rwd. did a quick search on craigslist here in vegas and cali... f20 swaps were on average between 3800-4000 with longblock, trans, harness, ecu and what not. then you still need to build a custom drive shaft, engine/trans mounts need to be built, exhaust to be built as well.

for that id rather swap in a v8 and have money left over to build a mild turbo kit.

That's the only way to make it worth it, grab the powertrain at a good price. Keep us updated! I'm interested in the mounts and oil pan clearance.
