The gear inside the motor for the distributor is chipped and causing the dizzy to jump time. I can't find anything about it and was wondering how to get to it to replace it. Any help would be awesome!

should be easily accessed by removing the valve cover and distributor. you're talkin bout the gear on the end of the camshaft that meshes with the distributor's rotor gear?

looked at your previous post you stated you have a 18 r . if the gear in the engine is bad have to pull radiator, fan, water pump , front cover, timeing chains there is a a pump drive shaft that is middle link from one timing chain to the other the gear is part of the shaft so you will need a new or replacement shaft . the gear in question is in the hole in second picture IMG_0470.jpg IMG_0475.JPG IMG_0475.JPG IMG_0470.jpg IMG_0475.JPG

pulled the pump shaft , it was out of a motor that 3 & 4 con rod went through the block. due to loss of oil , so it is not usable
