Okay, lets sum up what we have so far:

belt was replaced. Things attached to belt are Alternator, Crankshaft/Fan.

You obviously have battery because the starter works. So it's not likely to be the alternator.

Your distributor spins and your chain isn't broke.

This basically leaves somewhere between the ignition switch, and the distributor, which includes the ignition coil.

Heh, the video doesn't let me check power in your wires. ;)

I didn't see anything that was off (other than your motor looks nicer than mine), or hear anything that was off other than it not starting. Check all the wiring and things between the distributor and the key with a multimeter to make sure you don't have broken connections. If no breaks in the wiring, check for power. You should also check your ignition coil's primary and secondary resistance to make sure they're within spec.

Haha naw my motor isn't that great just leaks oil from somewhere but haven't found from were maybe the front main seal. And you mean the ignition switch right? And when it comes to testing the ignition coil is where I get lost?

I checked the connector to the ignition switch with a test light and all have power or all have grounds connected right

Here's the scan on how to properly test your ignition coil for primary and secondary resistance. All this will show is if it is within spec.

I'd then be tracing the wires from the ignition coil back towards the ignition switch (the key) and test any relays you come across on the way there. The spark when you shorted the alternator could have blown out a relay.

*edit* well crap, it downsized the image so it's hardly readable... let me throw a full-size one up on my server

here's a larger, unmolested size of the page: Testing your Ignition Coil

I got 1.5 ohms for the primary but couldnt get the secondary reading because I have a cheap harbor freight multimeter and the test lead didnt reach in the coil.
