yotadude... glad you got em! the machine shop plasma cut the shape and then drilled and tapped the holes by hand the tolerance was too high to plasma cut the mount holes so I had them drill the holes by hand I could have had them laser cut... for about 3-4 times the cost though the plasma cut was the most cost effective I would not trust aluminum to mount my brakes... too soft and weak thats why I even stayed away from stainless steel as I had originally planned, since I found out (thanks Litneon) stainless is not all that hard either
well I think I have the best answer for brake lines on this swap yet... On Downeys website http://downeyoff-road.com/ChassisComponents/DiscBrakes.html I found a set of what they call "Landcruiser backing plate removal hoses" Check the link above most the way down the page. They go from the brakeline mount on the frame directly to the caliper! so no hardline mount needed near the caliper and they are a stainless line I just ordered a set for $64 shipped which is less than most sites want for stainless lines that still need a hardline mount on the caliper end!!! I will post about them when I get them and try them on...
OK guys looks like I am down to my last two pairs.... If nobody on here takes them by Monday 8-13-07 I will be posting them on eBay.... So last chance to get them for $80+shipping, as I will be posting them for $100 on eBay..................
Shoes I got your payment and will ship tomorrow... Looks like I am down to the last 3 pairs and I have 3 guys claiming them but no funds in my Paypal account... so it's down to who pays up first... last chance tic toc tic toc tic toc....
So I am officially down to my last three sets... I also have three guys claiming they want them but no paypal payment as of yet... I am also down to one last set of rotor hardware so the last two sets sold don't get the rotor hardware.....
So one of the last three guys who "say" they want a set actually paid me... LOL! That was my last set of rotor hardware... So I have two pairs of caliper stands left (no rotor hardware) first to actually pay for a pair get em!!! $83 shipped UPS with tracking number Also I got my "landcruiser backing plate removal hoses" from Downey the other day. I have yet to install them but they look like they will work perfect... I will let you know how they work out.
im about ready to do my brake conversion, all im waiting for is the rotors n hat! The Stands looks great thanks again!!!
Anywayz i finally got the New brakes in, and they did take me quiet a while but they look so awesome and they stop soooooo much better than my stock brakes and i also bleeded my brakes also! The only concern i have is that i have to press the pedal all the way to the floor for the truck to stop! could it be that i have air in the line?????? Well here are the pics
Yes, you need to re-bleed the brakes. If the master cylinder is good, you should only have to move the pedal an inch or so.
the larger piston volume will add pedal travel... but if your hitting the floor you definitely have air in the lines my pedal moved a little farther than before but not anywhere near the floor after a couple days I was totally used to the new pedal travel... I am still trying to get used to the massive amounts of braking tho!!! Shoes, I noticed that your bolts that used to hold on the bottom of the backing plates and have a cotter pin through them are not installed right in your pics what I mean is the backing plate used to keep the castellated nut(slotted nut) out far enough to have the cotter pin lock into the nut. this nut holds on your steering linkage to the spindle and you don't want them to get loose. you should use a washer to take place of the space lost when you removed the backing plates... NICE job though dude and great pics.... I should have used a camera instead of my phone!!! LOL!!!
well this would be my third time bleeding them, i must be doing sumthin wrong cuz i go right rear, left rear, right front, then left front. do you have to bleed the LSPV???? can someone help figure this out........i love my brakes by the way they stop very fast!
Shoes, I only bled my fronts... didn't touch the back ones. did you see SupraRA's post on Nation??? he asked if you have the calipers on the wrong side which places the bleeders on the bottom and you won't be able to get the air out.... make sure you keep the reservoir full too when your bleeding or you'll get air back into the lines I am assuming you have someone pumping the brakes for you while your doing this.... the guy in the truck should pump the pedal while the truck is off then hold it to the floor.... you open the bleeder and let the air/fluid out. close the bleeder and repeat until no air or foam come out of the bleeder... if you slip a section of tubing over the bleeder and put the other end in a jar you can catch the fluid that you bleed out. I used a piece of windshield washer fluid tubing I had... it fits perfect on the bleeders good luck dude! the truck is looking awesome!!!
thanxs man! i actually have the tool where it vaccums out the brake fluid, should i still have somone in the truck pushing on the brakes pedal???
If that's the case, then No you shouldn't need any help. But if it still won't work..... Get a buddy.
I heard this is the place for the 4wd brake upgrade on 2wd trucks. Would love to get some of those brackets. Let me no if you got any left.
