When I press my brake pedal it is hard with no play. My drive way is kind of steep so I have to press the brakes really hard to get it to slow down but when I hit the road Its ok unless I have to slam on the brakes. On my way home from work the other day my truck felt sluggish and started to shudder in the front so I pulled over and my front caliper was locking up. I let it cool down and pulled them off and and cleaned the two sliding bolts that hold the caliper in. They were pretty gunked up and I made it home fine but my brake pedal is still hard. Is this my booster? Does any body have a fix for this?
caliper piston stuck. I would replace both front calipers and the break lines, then flush the rest of the brake fluid from the system. I know its more expensive then just throwing 1 caliper at it, but its breaks.
new calipers Roger that.. Thanks guys I was thinking caliper rebuild kit but now I think I'll just put some new calipers on it.
The brake booster is normally the case for hard brake pedal action, kinda like when you pump the brakes while the engine is off. But, since you mentioned the brakes locking up... I'd replace the rubber junction lines from the chassis to caliper, they collapse over time especially if you have a binding caliper which will end up boiling the brake fluid... Shoots!
