I just bought another dash pad and I am going to try and recover it with maybe some grained vinyl ??? Has anyone ever done this ? any tips or pointers appreciated. If I can make it come out good I will swap it with my current dash in the truck. 22R88
OK, if anyone is interested I finally removed the plastic dash cover that I had on my cracked dash and pulled the dash, bondo-ed the small pocket area and installed the new vinyl. It isn't perfect but came out pretty damm good. The only part that looks kinda bad is the far end near the door where I had to tuck the extra materil under cause it just wouldn't stretch enough to avoid the flap. I redid it about 4 times till I got it right enough to live with between the vent cut outs and the end tucking. Anyway I hope this helps if anyone is wanting to fix their cracked dash pad. Enjoy !!!
looks good,I go to my local picknpull auto dismantlers and get dashes out of old motorhomes, they are in good shape because the sun doesn't ruin them.the over hang on the camper shades the dash....
I replaced the dash pad in my 87 with the one from my 85 crawler but I just ended up wrapping it in grey speaker carpet anyways it didn't come out to bad for not knowing what I was doing
@Crazycody !! Thanks alot I appreciate the comment. It is holding up well and I much prefer it to that noisy hard plastic cover. 22R88
I used zebra duct tape on my 84. Looked pretty good. Fixed the cracks on the passenger side. They have all sorts of prints. Cheap too lol.
