I took my blocks out after reading posts of these things breaking, mine were also sitting in a spot where the back wall would eventually blow out. I gave them to a buddy who fabricates aluminum boats and he capped them with some 1/4" plate, made the pin and hole the proper size to reuse the rubber insulators on top of the leafs. This fixed allot of issues I was having, my axel was set ahead on the passenger side, there was an awful clunking noise on certain acceleration, I also got an extra 1/2" of drop.
With the centering pin and hole being to small it through the alignment of the back axle off quite a bit, I think the driveshaft was binding as there was a terrible thunking noise when I would first take off and on most shifts, that is all gone now, the block sits in there firm and snug, I was also able to get rid of the cheap crappy universal ubolts for the oem sized 9/16's
yea, my axel is doing the same thing. i have to see if its the blocks or my recently new leafs i put it.
Is it the thunking sound or not aligning? I noticed before I tightened the ubolts I was able to move the blocks a considerable amount sideways and forwards/backwards
yea ill definitely keep ya posted. its crazy alot of peps with 2wd havent done it. Hopefully the swap will be as straight foward as the 4x4 but Mike at ORS is very helpful with the whole process. Its just hard to come acrossed a decently price 5vs or better yet a donor truck with the 5vz.
