Hey everyone, I'm a newbie from SA... Hopin' to learn a lot from all of you learned gurus. A few years ago, I took a very keen interest in DIY, mostly on my '06 E90 320i.

As the love for mechanics/DIY grew, I also grew confident of my abilities around cars. Fast forward to now, I just recently purchased a 1983 Toyota Hilux with the intention of just repairing it.

However, as and when I worked (well, cleaning it mostly, actually) on it, I had this itch to do a proper job. So, I've been doing some research on it, 'till I stumbled upon this site.

Apologies for the long read, but I thought I should give some background. Hope to learn a lot from you all.

She's a little beat up, but I love her to bits...

I basically wanna get her 18R motor up & running again, bought her with the head off, the water pump apparently packed up. Have just recently removed the valves from the head to take it to the machine shop. But I'm battling with on of the pulleys, so I can't remove the chain cover. See my thread here: https://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/threads/remove-18r-pulley.23403/. I'm new to this.

Once that's done, she'll be getting a fresh paint job.
