ok found an 83 Celica in junkyard.... Any advantages I have if I get it. I'd love to put it on my 87 shop truck.. I heard the gearing is taller. I'm tempted now..

DAMN SON WHERE'D YOU FIND THIS?

Gearing is supposed to be sportier than the truck tranny and has a better 5th

Thanks I was reading info but wasn't 100% sure.. I will pull it hopefully next week.... That celica is also fuel injected Am surprised.. Looks like that system is less complicated than the updated version..

I heard somewhere of it being some kind of mechanical fuel injection. Not sure what that means

If the head is still there, I'd pull that. EFI heads for the hemi pistons are a tad rare. Mine cost me 200 and it wasn't rebuilt. The transmission, especially if it's a w58 with mechanical speedo cable, is just about as rare, and easier to swap into the earlier trucks (because speedo cable).

FI you pull the complete efi system (including intake, the whole shebang) I'd consider taking that off your hands to turbo my motor. Assuming someone else hasn't grabbed parts off it, that is
