So I'll start out by telling you a bit about the truck and add some pictures we all love to look at so much. It's registered as a 1980 2wd extra cab (clearly it's not) but for some reason or another my insurance company can't seem to run the VIN. From research I've done the 1980 model had a 20R under the hood yet my truck sports a 22R. Was there an engine swap during its life? Maybe, but I have no clue. So it started out life with some sort of sh-t brown color and somewhere down the line was painted a banana yellow. I picked up this truck for $400 off of an older gentleman I worked with. He used it twice a year for dump runs and the rest if the time it just sat around. She runs relatively well, although it could use a good tune up. I'm not currently driving it since it's winter and it's a little sketchy on icy roads. I have done a few things to her, I'll let the pictures do the talking. That's all for now folks!
Thanks I have no intention on stopping. Plan to give it a 3" drop and am still trying to make the skyline rims work. Also planning some sort of decal along the side or pin striping to brake up the solid color.
Well I got a few more things done to it figured I'd share. Before the front was lowered. Side shot. Wheels painted, truck lowered with 3" Beltech lowering blocks in the rear and the torsion bars loosened up front. Also added 1st gen 4Runner mirrors and painted the side vents.
Update! I ended up buying some brand new jeep wheel spacers of a local buy and sell site. They were hub centric wheel spacers, but in order to run the skyline rims I had to have the lips machined down. Slapped them on and had no issues getting test fitting the skyline rims. I had a friend of mine blast and paint the rims and voila here's how she sits.
just curious, why go through with such nice paint job without popping out that dent in the fender first?
Well that's a bit of a story. Buddy was having a slow go at work and insisted I bring the truck by his shop for a quick splash and dash. I was hesitant as he wouldn't tell me the color he was going to paint it. However he had given me the impression that he wasn't going to be charging me for the paint, so I thought what the hell. Once they got into stripping the truck and sanding it, it became apparent that the body was far from perfect. They used a fair bit of body filler here and there but for some reason left that dent. It is a eyesore and I have considered taking it to paintless dent repair to see if they can pull it.
