Will the 3rd member from a V6 rearend which has a 8.0" ring and pinion gear fit into a 4cyl rearend which has a 7.5" ring and pinion gear. Trying to get to a LSD rearend Supra spool. Im wondering if I must change out complete rearend or just the 3rd member.

Whole axle, the 3rd members are not interchangeable.

The 7.5 and 8" parts are not interchangeable. Like WhiteTrash said, you'd have to swap the entire axle assembly in order to use the 8".....also, make sure it's from a v6 2wd or you'll have an issue with 5 lug vs 6 lug :) (4wd have 6-lug)

According to the pic he posted in his other thread it is a 2wd axle. The e brake cables are totally different between 2wd and 4wd. The picture is of a 2wd.

Thanks for all the info. Going to pull 3rd member from 8" rearend and send it along with supra spool to get rebuilt and rework for LSD. Just waiting on new ring and pinion gears. Going with 4.10's.

If you really want to get it rebuilt then groovy but 4.10 is a super generic ratio in 4wd so they are available under $50 most of the time.

I'm on several 4x4 message boards and I was into wheeling for many, many years so I have contacts all over the area. 3rd members are cheap and plentiful.

The 2wd, 8" axle (GO82) comes with standard 4.10 gears. (4 cyl). Not sure if they changed it for the V-6.
