There are 4 brackets the the console mounts to, I only used 3 of them cause the front one (in front of the shifter) is welded on to the floor. The holes for the heater brackets were there but the threads were not, so I bought some plastic inserts from an auto parts store. They worked on the front 2 holes but were to small for the rear. So I used self tapping screws to mount the rear bracket. The heater mounts to those brackets... The holes on this bracket were not there on my truck so I used self tapping screws. Then the console goes in with 2 screws on top and moounts the heater. And 2 screws (1 on each side) hold both pieces of the console the bracket right behind the shifter Now, there are 2 different consoles. The 4Runner console which has the rear heater in it and the SR5 Pickup console which does not have the heater and has a 2 pockets (hard to find around here). The SR5 console mounts directly to the floor.
Nope, not for its purpose anyway. I just use it so the console is more stable. I took the heating element out of it.
