well ive decided i dont care much for the 12r engine and have happened to come across a silvertop 4age!
its front wheel drive (obviously) and im pretty sure on how to do the conversion in terms of mounting everything for rwd.

but is there anything i might need or need to know about the fwd vs. the rwd setup 4age, that more experienced members may be able to help with?
    like ancilliary components etc?
    clutch assembly?
    that sort of thing

    appreciate any info.
    cheers guys

    4age

i've read something on it before, but i don't remember where. i'm pretty sure the cooling system is a little different on the fwd version though

    i have done some research!
turns out one of the guys i went to enineering college with has done this conversion a few times and laid it all out for me
to do the conversion you need; clutch and flywheel off a blue top rear wheel drive 4age, a high volume electric fuel pump ( specifically for older cars that have the ****ty mech. ones with smaller fuel apetures ) apart from shelling out for those, the intake box needs to face the other way and because i have a hydraulic clutch the pedal has to be modified to take a cable.
also have to bin the power steering unit as it blocks the mounting point for rwd, haha but no worries there, the missus wont be driving it
make some mounts, chop a drive shaft and il be away
as for wiring it up.....i dont wanna talk about it lol
will leave that to someone more interested( i swear im electronically retarded )
will hopefully be doin this in the next few weeks so will make sure to load up some pics

I was thinking that you would find a 4AGE RWD and swap your stuff over.

but yeah, those corolla boys want their 4AG's

yea thats what i thought when i made the decision to do it, but man trying to find rwd components is wayyyy harder than i thought.
can buy flywheel and clutch new for a reasonable price ( which are worth changing anyway on any convesion) but second hand stuff is way too expensive and rare

...will just have to make my own extractors/mounts/intake box/linkages etc lol

was kinda hoping to find it all for cheap and have it done in a weekend....this has never happened to me:ROFL:

    Lol!

for the price you drown into that, you can try a 3S-GTE on a 3S-GE RWD setup from a IS200
    or a 2JZ :D

idk, you have options, go with what you want! good luck

    or maybe F22C from S2k

    might just look into that
only reason i opted for the 4age is coz it had low mileage, is the model that will take a supercharger or turbo with no major mods and did a deal for it so no money changed hands

was flickin through threads the other night, i get the feeling u want an old toymota...get one! lol
