Was there a difference between the 2wd and the 4wd front bumper for the years 84-88? I know the valances were different. Thanks
i believe some are one piece and some are 3 piece. I prefer the single piece in chrome for me resto build. Pics will be posted soon
LowNLoud If your talking about the mounting, The 4 x 4 valance has a slightly different bracket ( bumper support ) if I can remember right. Also, the 4 x 4 valance is larger in the center so using one youll have to adapt with some brackets and or screws to your liking. The plastic 4 x 4 ends are just so ugly in my opinion for a 2wd mini, My truck had them when I got it, So I switched to full chrome, new 2 wd valance and brakets, and I gracefully tossed that plastic lika frisbee into the garbage Heres how she turned out !
There was a difference in the 2wd & 4wd trucks...here are some pics to show how they looked! 2wd 1-piece bumper & valance 4wd 3-piece upper bumper & lower valance Here is a great example of both bumpers being used. Its the 4x4/4runner 3-piece upper bumper & the 2wd lower valance
Brackets I've got the 4WD myself but an examination of a 2WD in the junkyard, the bumpers were the same, but the brackets on the 4x go out further than the rear drive. Not to mention that since the two wheel drives have "fender inserts" the "4WD" three piece should fit fine with 2WD brackets and valances.
The front and side brackets are different between the 1-piece and the 3-piece. When I started my build, the 4x4 front fender were the first item to change, to allow the wheels to tuck , followed by the 29-95 4 Runner front fender & valance which I made into one piece. I made my own bracket to pull all in tighter.
