mainly concerned about the fuel delivery setup. i already have an electric pump..... from what ive read around, usual pressure needs to be regulated at around 3 or 4lbs?

also the distributor..... was wondering how you set it up with the stock one....... im assuming just to cap off the advance/retard ports and just dial in the initial amount?

also, how do you suggest to go about sync'n the carbs?

I had duel maccunnies on my truck , 22r/20r hybrid back in the 80's ... (4G into my engine back then ) and it was a real screamer ... loved the top end .

you are correct on the fuel delivery .. you'll need to run electric and block off the mechanical .

distributor vac is blocked .. and I dont remember timing .

some progress of the tear down....

the garage...... no square foot left uncovered...

typical damage when timing guide on drivers side breaks.... i found that over 3 inches worth of guide was in the oil pan... :runaway:

gasket blown area between cyl 1 and 2 blown. possibly been running this way for about 5 or so months.... noticed every so often it needed water.... this was why. ran perfect though

gasket area between 2 and 3 was ok....

gasket area between cyl. 3 and 4 was also blown. this finally gave in to too much water consumption..... that and water built up inside the cylinder causing it to miss horribly on cold starts untill the water completely burned up.

    block awaiting tear down.....

engine bay area.............. cant wait to clean up all the "unnecessary" crap out of there

Those blow rings between 1/2 & 3/4 are still cherry bro... They don't have gasket material between them from the factory only between 2/3... Looks more like you were losing water on the exhaust side #1/3 water jackets. The rusty color on the block is a dead give away...

Be sure to check the water ports on the head to block mating surface for corrosion. I had 2 out of 3 late model heads within the year that needed some welding done to fill them in...

    Keep the pics coming! :waytogo:

really? i always thought the rings were isolated from eachother

dont think this thing's ever been taken appart so

yea.... bottom end showed some real slight abnormal wear but i think that was from the water sitting in the cylinder on startup and trying to compress the water..... looking at the bottom of the HG and the block, i think it may not need to be decked. crank and mains look clean....imma send it out monday morning to be checked and see what the machine guy sais about it.

I believe they are 14mm. We just unbolted my starter the other day. Don't quote me on that though.

Are you 100% on running the engine bldr 270 cam .with those side drafts and RV head you can benefit from a more aggressive cam if your wanting a 4k up screamer I have ran 3 cams the 270 being one of them its good but those carbs and head are thirsty for air
