so........ my HG blew this past monday when i went to start the truck up this morning. fired up with a few constant misses and thumps..... as i gave it gas, it cleaned up but i knew something was wrong.....:(

turned out my HG gave out between cylinders 1 and 2, and again between 3 and 4. i think i had a small leak between 1 and 2 for the longest time just never made enough of a difference to affect the trucks performance............ just used a tiny bit of water once in a while.

anyhow......... on to the more fun stuff. :clapping:

this is what i am aiming for on the build......

block- will be getting complete tear down, pressure tested, decked, bored and honed to the next size up. new pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, and water pump will be used. double row timing chain and steel backed guides will be used for a long trouble free service :waytogo:

head- i will be ordering a new street rv head from engnbldr.com with s.s. oversized valves, a healthy 270/430 grind cam, and will also be getting a nice chrome valve cover to top it all off

flow- decided i will be going twin side draft carbs on this build and will be eliminating ALL the smog crap plaguing this motor and clean up all the non essential accessories and junk that does not need to be there for performance. ill keep my current 4-1 headers and exhaust system.

while im there, ill also be placing in a lightened fidanza flywheel..... this thing is gonna rip! :headbang:

Nice, I like the Engnbldr head. I just put an RE together with Engnbldr parts, if you get their gasket set I think you'll like the head gasket. You won't blow that one between cylinders, it looks very well made.

Sorry to hear about the head gasket, but at least it gives you an opportunity to build it up.

yea. im ordering most of the parts from them.... head, cam, and the master rebuild kit as well.

really? i figured the quality was just as nice being they cost nearly the same

that is true...... just wish i would have had a bit more cash to afford the build all at once :D
